Homeowner Pre High Season Checklist

Prior to approaching high season where a lot of your bookings are back-to-back, it’s a good idea to get these few things checked and sorted in advance to avoid major avoidable headaches for both you and guests.

Many contractors and service providers get fully booked going into high season periods which may leave you in a pickle in the event of things being overlooked.

Here’s a checklist of essential items we need to get sorted before going into the busiest seasons of the year.

1. Service all air conditioners.

It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to do this easily during the busy season which is when guests need it most.

2. Refill gas bottles and have back-ups.

Gas suppliers during busy periods may have a longer lead time to assist.

3. Ensure all braais are working properly.

An essential amenity for the holidays.

4. Book any required contractor related work NOW.

Contractors may be fully booked going into the high season, so schedule them well before to avoid being let down.

5. Fix all the niggles.

Loose door handles, paint touch-ups, grouting in showers, minor leaks, loose shower doors, etc.

6. Replace all light bulbs not working and buy backups if you don’t have some already.

We recommend rechargeable battery light bulbs that will stay on for a few hours during load shedding (find an example here).

On that note.

Being prepared for load shedding is a massive differentiator driving more bookings as your property will often be the preferred, if not the most obvious choice.

In order to do this, we recommend getting an inverter installed to power those essential items: lights, fridges, WIFI and TVs. No need for candles or battery powered lights that can easily go missing. Seriously consider getting a gas hob solution so guests are able to cook during loadshedding.

If you would like us to assist you with any of the above items, if we’re not already, please let us know.
